Rupee posts sharp gains

MUMBAI, MARCH 31. On the back of an overnight mild relief-rally, the rupee today posted sharp gains against the U.S. currency, helped by strong trade and expatriate remittances amidst negligible dollar demand from corporates and importers on the final session of the current fiscal. In mostly quiet and range-bound trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee ended at 43.74/75 a dollar, a steep six paise gain from Wednesday's close of 43.8000/8150 after a positive opening slot of 43.7850/7950 due to the dollar's late rebound overseas — PTI
