By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, MARCH 31. The Union Tourism Minister, Renuka Chowdhury, will dedicate to the nation the ambitious "Great Green Vista" project at Hardwar on April 1 in presence of the State Chief Minister, N D Tiwari. The project, for which the Union Tourism Ministry has given Rs. 4 crores, includes beautification and upgradation of "ghats" along river Ganga in Hardwar and greening of the city.

Ms. Chowdhury, who is on a three-day visit to the Himalayan State, will also launch the Badrinath shrine "prasad" in the form of "Blessings from Dev Bhumi", a joint endeavour of the Uttaranchal Tourism Development Board and the Central Postal Department. The idea is to make Badrinath temple "Prasad" available to devotees across the world.

She will also review and inspect the progress of various tourism-related projects and works sanctioned by her ministry. She will also inspect the progress of work at the Institute of Hotel Management at Dehra Dun. This upcoming "first level" institute is being fully funded by the Government of India.

The Union Tourism Ministry will also visit the unique herbal garden at Muni ki Reti near Rishikesh and also launch a training programme for tourism service providers. Being jointly conducted by the Uttaranchal Tourism Development Board and the India Tourism Development Corporation, the training programme is aimed at capacity building of such service providers who have a direct interface with tourists such as "dhabawalas", employees of government corporations, bus conductors and drivers.
