NEW DELHI, MARCH 31 . A Delhi court today acquitted four accused in a murder case of 1999 in Kalkaji in South Delhi, saying that the prosecution has miserably failed to prove the case beyond all reasonable doubts. Observing that no person would be safe "under a horrible investigating officer like the one in this case,'' the Additional Sessions Judge, Lal Singh, said that the case was based only on circumstantial evidence and that the police did not make any serious efforts to collect evidence of the incident. The Kalkaji police had charged the four Ramdeo, Rampyari, Anil and Basanti Hapuri with murdering Ami Lal, a security guard at a restaurant in the area. The Judge was particularly heavy on Sub-Inspector, Ramphal, for what he said not taking the case seriously. Acquitting the four, Ms. Singh observed: "The Sub-Inspector unnecessarily made the four suffer by charging them with the offence.
