Mangalore
By Our Staff Correspondent
MANGALORE, MARCH 31. The Indian Christian Service Association has decided to intensify its struggle to reform the Church and free it from the clutches of "evil and satanic forces." "We have decided to wage battles in the courts and in the streets of Mangalore Diocese, which covers Mangalore, Udupi, and Kasaragod," the association's president, P.B. D'Sa, said at a press conference here on Wednesday. The association demanded that all institutions, organisations, businesses, educational institutions, and workshops headed by the clergy be handed over to lay managements. The association has also demanded that all mulgeni, chalgeni, and other properties be handed over to the bona fide occupiers. "After the Government of India, the second largest landlord in India is the Indian Christian Church. However, Bishops are not landlords and they do not have the power to evict tenants," Mr. D'Sa said.
