MANGALORE, MARCH 31. A person said to be in his 40s stole a golden chain and earrings from a woman working at Mukhyaprana Temple in Mangalore North (Bunder) Police Station limits on Wednesday. Police said the person came to pray at the temple where the complainant, Sunanda, a resident of Gowri Mutt Street, works. He reportedly grabbed her by her throat and forced her to part with her jewellery valued at Rs. 6,500. Police have registered a complaint.
Raided
Sleuths of the district Crime Intelligence Bureau raided a video games parlour at Sri Lakshmi Enterprises adjacent to Kankanady Market in Mangalore East (Kadri) Police Station limits and arrested five persons on the charge of gambling. They are Diwakar Shetty, Mohammed Amam, Thomas Veigas, Ratnakar and Arun Kumar.
Injured
Two persons were injured when a lorry and a car collided at Nanthoor in Mangalore East Police Station limits on Thursday. Shubhakar Bhandary and another person travelling by the car were injured. A case has been registered. In another incident, a man riding a scooter was injured when a lorry reportedly collided with his vehicle near Nellikai Road in Mangalore South (Pandeshwar) Police Station limits on Wednesday. Police said the complainant, Jagannath Rai (52), a resident of Bajal Jelligudde, has been admitted to hospital for treatment. Investigation is on.
