Partly cloudy

CHENNAI, MARCH 31. The sky will be partly cloudy on Friday and the maximum temperature will be around 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 27.

On Thursday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 34.9 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27.1. The humidity was 84 per cent. Meenambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.5 and the humidity was 83 per cent.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended in parts of Kodambakkam on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work.

Contact classes

Contact classes for those candidates of distance education in Madurai Kamaraj University for courses such as M.Phil, post graduate, under graduate and diploma will be held at Anna Adarsh College on Saturday and Sunday. Classes will be held at SBOA Matriculation school, Anna Nagar for MBA students and Pecra Centre, Periyar Thidal for MCA students, this weekend.

Bank branch opened

Federal Bank opened its 454th branch at Gangadheeswarar Street, Purasawalkam on Monday. The computerised branch was inaugurated by K.S.Bakthavatchalam, former Madras High Court judge and chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

Free coaching

LCR College of Engineering and Technology, Kanchipadi near Kanagamachatram conducted a free entrance coaching programme for higher secondary students in Arakkonam and Tiruvallur.

Blood donation

About 70 units of blood was donated by staff of Information and Technology industries during a camp organised by Lions Club of Madras Velachery at Tidel Park, Taramani on Tuesday.

Annual day

Tagore Matriculation School, Nanmangalam, celebrated its 20th annual day celebrations, last week. Former Railway State Minister, A.K.Moorthy, distributed prizes to the students. The school correspondent, J.Nemidoss also participated.
