CHENNAI, MARCH 31. Students of Master of Business Administration from various institutions learnt about several avenues open for entrepreneurship at a seminar held at the Hindustan Engineering College, Padur, last week. Hosted by the Management Studies Department, the seminar discussed about the retail sector, opportunities in information technology and business process outsourcing especially in education and customised software. S. Sriram, chief executive officer of Silkroute Indchem, a city-based venture capitalist firm, spoke about the methods used by venture capitalists to evaluate a project. He gave tips to the students about how to draw the attention of venture capitalists and avoid the common pitfalls by entrepreneurs. While K. Radhakrishnan, vice-president (merchandising), FoodWorld supermarket, cited case studies, which helped in enhancing customer value, Gowri Shankar Subramanian, chief executive officer, spoke on the various criteria that determined a successful entrepreneur and also financial aspects of setting up an establishment. K. Ramakrishnan, director of Autopartsasia, a net-based automotive components sourcing and supplies intermediary, briefed about the competitive advantages that our country has in automotive components and global standards of Indian products.
