The Haryana Government has issued a standing order giving validity to computer-generated copies of revenue records and has designated all Revenue Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars to authenticate them.
The orders, signed by the Agriculture and Revenue Minister, Surender Singh, reached the officials a few hours before he died in a helicopter crash near Saharanpur, official sources said. An official release quoting Mr. Singh said the decision had been taken because the Government was keen on helping the common man in obtaining copies of revenue records.
The process of computerisation, which had started over a decade ago, did not achieve the primary objective of providing authenticated computer-generated copies of these documents, as there was no enabling provision in the Haryana Land Revenue Manual to give validity to such copies, the release added.
