Workshop on algorithms

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 31. The Kerala Education Grid Resource Centre at the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management-Kerala (IIITM-K) is organising a workshop on Analysis and Design of Algorithms on April 2 and 3 at the Travancore Hall, Technopark. The workshop is targeted at teachers, researchers and members from business firms in the field of computer science and engineering. The main speaker at the workshop would be professor C. Government move welcomed

The Government's decision to calculate the sales tax on medicine on the basis of the retail price and to charge the tax at the initial phase itself has been welcomed by the Indian Medical Association. By collecting sales tax on medicines in such a manner, the Government does not stand to lose any revenue. The Government would get the tax before the actual sales of the medicine.

Mass `upanayanam'

Under the auspices of the Kerala Brahmana Sabham, a mass `upanayanam' programme would be held on May 13 as part of the Sankara Jayanthi celebrations. The programme would be organised at the Rajarajeswari Kalyana Mandapam. Parents wishing to conduct `upanayanam' for their wards should contact K. Harihara Iyer on phone 2470826.

Coaching class

The summer coaching camp of the District Tourism Promotion Council would begin at the Akkulam swimming pool on Friday. The DTPC secretary, P. Unnikrishnan, would inaugurate the camp.
