THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 31. Activists of the All India Youth Federation today blocked the tanker lorries carrying drinking water from the Kerala Water Authority's distribution centre at Vellayambalam alleging that certain people were selling the water to construction companies in the name of hospitals and hotels. They alleged that the lorries were transporting water submitting fake applications in the name of hotels and hospitals. The AIYF leaders who reached the distribution centre around 11 a.m. blocked the lorries and insisted on calling the police. When the Museum police reached there along with the KWA executive engineer, K.Sasi, they produced the applications and passes used for transporting water. It was found that the applications and passes were not in order, the CPI State committee member, Kadakampally Mohanan, said. Later, Mr. Sasi assured the AIYF activists that stringent action would be taken against those misusing the facility and the lorries were released around 1.30 p.m.
