HYDERABAD, MARCH 31. A person accused of collecting huge amount as commission from clients by issuing fabricated home loan sanctioning letters was arrested by the Sanjeevareddy Nagar police on Thursday. "Initially, the accused in the cheating case, Vishal Singh, himself approached us saying some persons were trying to extort money from him," the Inspector, A. Venkataratnam, said. Enquiries revealed that Vishal was trying to implicate one of the victims, Mohd. Ali, in a false case. Vishal told the police that Ali was threatening and asked him to pay Rs. 50,000 in connection with a dispute. When the police questioned, Ali said it was Vishal who duped him of Rs. 50,000 with false promises of providing a home loan. Ali showed the forged cheque of UTI bank, allegedly given by Vishal, to the police to substantiate his charges. Subsequently, Vishal admitted to his offence. The accused used to approach clients posing himself as a broker of UTI bank for securing home loans. He used to issue them forged sanctioning letters and cheques in the UTI bank's name and collect 8 per cent of the loan amount towards commission. The police found that the accused had cheated three persons in a similar fashion.
