KOCHI, MARCH 31. Foreign universities are welcome to the State, the Education Minister, E.T. Mohammed Basheer, has said. He was speaking at a convocation ceremony of the vocational training programme for Omani nationals, here this evening. "Kerala is emerging as an educational destination. The Government's aim is to bring about 100 per cent computer literacy in the State. Without complaining about globalisation, we should be able to turn the tide of globalisation so that it benefits us," Mr. Basheer said. Speaking on the occasion, the High Commissioner of Oman in India, Khalifa Al Harthy, said that 2005 marked the 50th year of India and Oman establishing diplomatic ties. Apart from Kochi, Omani students were undergoing training in Bangalore and Pune, he said. The Under Secretary, Ministry of Manpower, Sultanate of Oman, Al Said Hamed Bin Hilal Al Busaidi, and the Director General, Ministry of Manpower, Salem Naseer Al Hadhrami, were among those who spoke.
