Man robbed of jewellery, cash

BANGALORE, MARCH 31. A three-member gang robbed a man of gold ornaments and Rs. 2,500 in cash on the Jnana Bharathi campus on Wednesday.

The police said that around 10.30 p.m. when Kumar (45) was riding back home, a youth accosted him near the entrance of Jnana Bharathi on Mysore Road and sought a lift to the Ambedkar Institute of Technology. Near Bangalore University's main office on the campus, the youth, who was riding pillion with Kumar, made him stop the vehicle saying that his footwear had slipped out of his foot. When Kumar stopped the vehicle, two others joined the youth and they robbed Kumar of two gold rings, a chain, a mobile phone and the cash, the police said.

Seized

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials on Wednesday arrested two persons and seized ganja worth Rs. 52,000 from them. The police said S.K. Pasha (25) and Ramu (32), both from Warangal in Andhra Pradesh, were arrested when they were trying to sell the ganja on Broadway Road, off CSI Hospital, in Shivajinagar.

Recovered

The Fraser Town Police on Tuesday arrested two persons and recovered from them two two-wheelers and seven car stereos, in all valued at Rs. 1.50 lakhs. The police gave the names of the arrested as Rahamathullah (19) and Tanveer (18), both residents of Devarajeevanahalli.

In another case, the Kalasipalyam Police have arrested Varadaraj (22) and Krishna (24), both from Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu, and recovered from them 10 car stereos in all valued at Rs. 30,000.

Arrested

The Rajagopalanagar Police on Tuesday arrested Vittal Rao (35) of Rajagopalanagar and recovered from him aluminium ingots he had allegedly stolen from a factory.
