The rain, coupled with heavy winds, started around 3 p.m.

Since almost all metal medians on the Sulochana Mudaliar Bridge near Tirunelveli Junction were brought down by the gusty wind, traffic was disrupted for a few minutes.

The climate, which was so sultry in the morning, was pleasant in the afternoon, as the sky remained overcast.

Banana crop cultivated on several hectares at Ervadi, Thirukkurunkudi and Kalakkad areas suffered extensive damage, owing to the wind.
