KOCHI, APRIL 1. An awareness campaign for school children on coastal zone management was organised at Chellanam by the Central Institute for Fisheries Technology (CIFT) today. G. Mohankumar, chairman, Marine Products Export Development Authority, inaugurated the programme. Four camps will be organised during April and May, in which 15 students each from high schools in Chellanam will be participating. The programme is being organised as part of the action research programme on community-based coastal zone management with specific involvement of women. The programme is being funded by the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi. K. Devadasan, director, CIFT, presided. Kusumam John, president, Chellanam Panchayat, inaugurated the public meeting organised in this connection.
