First IT park opens in Delhi

NEW DELHI, APRIL 2. Aimed at making Delhi an information technology hub, the Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, today inaugurated the Capital's first "IT Park" at Shastri Park in North-East Delhi. Developed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the complex comprises three buildings with about 30,000 sq metres of floor area and equipped with state-of-the-art technology including high-end communication facilities and international quality business space. The DMRC Managing Director, E Sreedharan, was also present on the occasion.

Asserting that the IT Park would make Delhi a favoured destination among top information technology companies, Ms. Dikshit said it was an important step towards bringing Delhi at par with hot IT destinations such as Bangalore and Hyderabad and it would also check escape of IT companies . The new IT destination is likely to create around 50,000 jobs. The IT Park will have a state-of-the-art building management system with electronic access/smart cards, CCTV, round-the-clock monitoring of electrical, air conditioning system, hi-tech fire detection system and spacious parking. The complex will be managed by L&T Info City, the owner of famous "Cyber Towers" at HITEC City in Hyderabad.
