By Our Special Correspondent

CUDDALORE, APRIL 2. Members of the All-India Democratic Women's Association today staged a hunger strike in support of their demands. The town secretary of the AIDWA, M. Manoranjitham, led the agitation.

The association urged the authorities to appoint enough doctors in the psychiatry, cardiology, and anaesthesia departments. It called upon the hospitals to dispense with the practice of demanding ration cards for administering injection against rabies.

Its other demands included deepening of the Cuddalore Port to restore the ship movement, speedy gauge conversion of the Villupuram — Cudalore — Kumbakonam sector, construction of causeway at Thevanampattinam, Thazhanguda and Rasapettai, and checking of malpractices in fair price shops.
