PONDICHERRY, APRIL 2. Members of different associations of the Pondicherry State Government departments, affiliated to the Confederation of Employees, staged a dharna here on Friday urging the administration to adopt a "fair recruitment policy" while recruiting staff for the Group C and D categories of staff. They demanded that recruitment or regularisation of the staff in the Group D category be done region-wise. As far as the Group C posts are concerned, the administration was urged to adopt the policy of filling 75 per cent of the posts on the basis of seniority in the employment exchange and the remaining 25 per cent on the basis of merit. The recruitment rules should be reviewed appropriately for amendment, they said.
