Mufti to take up issue with Manmohan

By Our Staff Reporter

JAMMU, APRIL 2. Describing the denial of permission by Pakistan to politicians to travel to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus as a setback, the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, said today that he would discuss the matter with the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, and urge him to take up the matter again with Islamabad.

Making a statement in the Assembly here, Mr. Sayeed said: "Í share the sentiments of the House and would request the Prime Minister to take up this matter with Pakistan. It is a setback."

But the bus service is a big event and will not be affected by this development. The movement of passengers across the LoC is a significant milestone in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. "One should not de-value the whole process just because the Pakistan Government has refused permission to the mainstream politicians," he said.

Earlier, there was pandemonium in the House during question hour on the issue of denial of permission to politicians by Pakistan.

The Opposition charged the State Government with causing embarrassment to the politicians by mishandling the issue.
