CHENNAI, APRIL 2. Jasper's effort in the dying minutes of the match helped host Southern Region beat Eastern by a solitary goal and lift the trophy in the Indian Airlines inter-region football tournament at the Nehru stadium on Saturday. Southern had in its previous matches drawn with Western and Northern teams. Earlier Western Region, which drew 1-1 with Northern, completed its engagements with an all-draw result and took the runner-up spot. For Northern today, Nirmal Kujor scored the first goal of the match and later Nitin Save equalised. The General Manager (Personnel), Indian Airlines, Southern Region, K.M.A. Koshie gave away the prizes. — Our Special Correspondent
