THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 2. The Cantonment police have seized fake Indian and foreign currency notes amounting to Rs 7.75 lakhs from a lodge in the city. Two persons hailing from Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu have been arrested in this connection. A laser colour printer was also seized. It is suspected that the notes were meant for a private foreign currency exchange agency in the city. The Circle Inspector, Cantonment, K. E. Baiju, identified the accused as Munishwaran (35) and Chellapandy (40). The fake currency notes seized included U.S. dollars and dinars. The accused were arrested from a lodge on Tutor's Lane here. Mr. Baiju said the currency notes were to be handed over to Satheeshan whose whereabouts were unknown. The accused were produced before the court on the charge of forgery and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
