`Media part of commercial empire in the U.S.'

By Our Staff Reporter

KOZHIKODE, APRIL. 2. American journalist Alexander Cockburn today said that media in the United States was less interested in extracting news, especially political.

At a Meet-the-Press programme organised by the Calicut Press Club here, he said the media was part of the commercial empire in that country. He said America's main aim was to destroy the Left movement worldwide. The Central Intelligence Agency had always intervened in pulling down Left Governments in Kerala, Italy and other places. Communism in America was already dead, he added. Mr. Cockburn said the U.S. administration was destroying the country's middle class by sending them to the war front.
