THRISSUR, APRIL 2. P.A. Fazal Gafoor, general secretary of the Muslim Educational Society (MES), has been selected for the award instituted by the Institute of Mappila Studies in memory of the historian and educationist Saed Mohiyuddin Shah. The institute had also selected the social activist and writer K.K. Rahulan for `Manava Maithri' award for his contributions to national integration and communal harmony. At a press conference here on Saturday, the institute office-bearers said the awards carry a purse of Rs.5,000 and a plaque each. The awards will be distributed at a function to be held at Tirur in the third week of April.
