ADILABAD, APRIL 2. The L. Ramachenna Reddy one-man commission of inquiry on farmer suicides in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday held a review meeting with officials of the cooperative, agriculture, animal husbandry, irrigation, groundwater, marketing and others departments. The review was held on the second and concluding day of the commission's sitting to elicit suggestions for plugging loopholes in various aspects related to farming operations. Based on the depositions of the General Manager of Adilabad District Cooperative Central Bank (ADCCB) N. Padmanabha Rao, and the District Cooperative Officer (DCO), G. Sudhakar Reddy, the commission felt that certain measures ought to be taken to plug loopholes in financing of farmers.

Creation of an online link between all banks in the district carrying information system regarding loans given to farmers was one such suggestion. The online facility would enable bank officials concerned to know whether a farmer was availing loans from different banks by pledging the same piece of land. Mr. Ramachenna Reddy recorded every aspect associated with the loaning system in order to know the inherent lacunae in the system.
