Temperature

MADURAI, APRIL 2. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.9 degrees Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam stood at 108.7 feet with no inflow and a discharge of 100 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam stood at 26.61 feet with an inflow of 18 cusecs and a discharge of 41 cusecs (including 11 cusecs for Sedapatti drinking water project). The combined Periyar credit stood at 844 mcft.

The city received mild showers late in the evening while Veerapandi received 7 mm of rainfall.

Vehicle tax

The last date for remitting vehicle tax for two-wheelers and cars without penalty is April 9. To help people remit the tax, a special counter has been opened at the Chockikulam branch of Indian Overseas Bank on March 28.

Vehicle tax for `non-transport vehicles' for the year and green tax for more than 15-year-old vehicles would be collected at the counter, which will remain open between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on Saturdays.
