MADURAI, APRIL 2. The Collector, D. Raajendiran, reviewed the arrangements being made in connection with the forthcoming Chithirai festival of the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple here and Kallazhagar Temple at Alagarkovil Mr. Raajendiran sought the cooperation of the public in ensuring a smooth conduct of the festivals. He directed officials to undertake coordinated measures and pave way for successful conduct of the festivals The festival at the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple commences on April 13 and concludes on April 23, and the Kallazhagar Temple festival from April 20 to 29. Lord Kallazhagar will proceed to Madurai from Alagarkovil on the evening of April 22 and return to his abode on April 28. The Madurai Superintendent of Police, the City Police Commissioner, the Corporation Commissioner, Fire and Rescue Service, Health Department, Public Works Department, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Highways Department, Tourism Department and Revenue Department would be involved in conducting the festival. Besides the District Revenue Officer, K. Asaithambi, the Joint Commissioners of HR and CE, P. Bhaskaran and P. Ramaraj, and the Deputy Commissioner, P. Bharathy, were among those who attended the meeting.
