CHITRADURGA, APRIL 3. Police Flag Day was celebrated here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, retired Deputy Superintendent of Police, G.K. Basavarajappa, highlighted the need for better schooling facilities for the children of police personnel. He suggested that schools and colleges be started at the divisional level to meet the educational needs of the children of police personnel. He urged the Government to start a special hospital in Bangalore to provide healthcare for the State police force. Mr. Basavarajappa said that the funds collected through the sale of police flags will be used for the welfare of the police. Twenty-three retired police officers were honoured on the occasion. The day was also marked by a free health check-up camp for police personnel. B. Dayananda, Superintendent of Police, welcomed.
