By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, APRIL 3. Seven dacoits broke into the house of Shankar Shetty, advocate, at Rajarajeshwarinagar and took away Rs. 1 lakh in cash and jewellery estimated at Rs. 1 lakh in the early hours of Sunday.

The police said Mr. Shetty and his wife, Hemavathi, were in the house which is located in an isolated area in Kenchenahalli near BHEL Layout.

The couple's children are living abroad.

They then removed the screws of the rear door to open it.

As they entered the house, the couple got up and shouted for help. Two of the dacoits reportedly threatened them with knives.

They took away the jewellery worn by Ms. Hemavathi, while the others took away the cash and some ornaments.

They had cut the telephone wire before entering the house, the police said.

The dacoits were in the age group of 20 to 25.

They spoke Hindi. They wore banians and lungis, the police said.
