THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 4. Top-seeded M. Binu Mani scored an easy 6-2, 6-4 win over his younger brother M. Binoj Mani and claimed the men's singles title of the TCTDS Open tennis tournament at the TTC courts here on Monday. Later, Binu kept himself in line for a double as he and Binoj overcame K. Vijayakumar and M. Biju Mani 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 in the men's doubles semifinals. In the final, scheduled for Tuesday, Binu and Binoj will meet A. Vijayakumar and V.R. Vijikumar, who put aside the challenge of K. Shankar and Cecil George 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 in the second semifinals.
Men's singles (final): M. Binu Mani bt M. Binoj Mani 6-2, 6-4. Doubles (semifinals): Binu Mani/Binoj Mani bt K. Vijayakumar/M. Biju Mani 6-4, 6-7, 6-1; A. Vijayakumar/V.R. Vijikumar bt K. Shankar/Cecil George 6-4, 6-7,6-4.
Boys: Under-18 singles (final): S.L. Arun bt G.L. Vivek 6-1, 6-2.
Doubles (semifinals): S.L. Arun/G. Chandu bt Asif Taj/Harris Chacko 9-2; M.S. Sharath Lal /N.R. Abhilash bt Shyam Babu/M.R. Rajendran 9-8.
Under-14 singles (final): Swathy Kanth bt Solomon G. Thomas 6-1, 6-2. Under-12 singles (final): H. Suraj bt Anand George 6-1, 6-3.
Girls: Under-16 singles (final): Parvathi Vijayan bt Neelima Sanjay 6-2, 6-2. Under-14 singles (final): Minu R. Raju bt Apoorva Sara Prakash 6-2, 6-3.
