India-New Zealand semifinals

DURBAN, APRIL. 4. India will play New Zealand in the second semifinal of the eighth women's cricket World Cup in the town of Potchefstroom, near Pretoria, on Thursday. India has finished with 30 points in the league table, while New Zealand has 29 points.

The first semifinal will be between Australia and England at the same venue on Tuesday.

The four semifinalists were decided after persistent, heavy rain put paid to all four seventh-round matches on Sunday.

The wash-out means that for the second time during the tournament each team will pick up three points for a no result. The opening round of matches was also disrupted by rain.

India was to have played leader Australia in round seven while Sri Lanka was to have played Ireland; South Africa was to have opposed New Zealand; and West Indies was to have played England.

The organisers have decided that Wednesday and Friday will be set aside as reserve days for each semifinal should rain prevent a result on the scheduled day.

The final will take place at SuperSport Park on Sunday, April 10.

The standings: (read under played, won, lost, no result, match points, bonus points, nett run rate):
