IA forced to settle for a draw

NEW DELHI, APRIL 4. Indian Airlines fell short by three runs to wrap up an otherwise thrilling two-day contest against Delhi Police in the Premier Division match in the DDCA cricket league here.

Forcing Delhi Police to follow-on after posting 275 in its first innings, Indian Airlines dismissed the police team second time thanks to Arun Pandey (four for 44) and Iresh Saxena (three for 54). Indian Airlines had three overs to score 27 but in the haste three wickets fell and it settled for a draw and two points by virtue of its first innings' lead.

The scores:

Premier Division: Indian Airlines 275 in 73 overs (Maninder Bisla 77, Ajit Chandela 73, N.P. Singh 36, Prem Vir Nagar six for 79) and 24 for three in three overs drew with Delhi Police 90 in 34.1 overs (Mark Ignty four for 37, Subhash Chaudhary three for eight) and 211 in 63 overs (Sanjay Verma 67, Ravi Chikara 30, Iresh Saxena three for 54, Arun Pandey four for 44).

Super Elite-I: Raghubir Willowers 175 for nine in 35 overs (Karan Negi 56) lost to Ajmal Khan Club 179 for no loss in 23.2 overs (Ankit Singh 89 not out, Sumit Mathur 73 not out).

Plate Division: Sonnex Club 215 in 38.1 overs (Asif Ali 62, Mukesh Arora 39, Gagan 32) lost to Malik Sports 218 for six in 32 overs (Mohammed Shakir 114, Fakiruddin 39).
