Woman, son killed in accident

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, APRIL 4. A 40-year-old woman and her 14-year-old son were killed when the scooter they were riding on was hit by private bus at Nangloi in East Delhi today. The woman's elder son, who was driving the scooter, escaped with minor injuries.

According to the police, Kamlesh, wife of Satyanarayan, a resident of Bharthal village in South-West Delhi, was riding the scooter along with Vikram and Sanju from Hirankuda towards Rohtak Road when the incident occurred around 9-45 a.m. The police said when Sanju took a turn on Rohtak Road, the bus -- plying on STA permit from Hissar to Delhi -- hit the scooter from behind.

While Sanju was flung away under the impact, Kamlesh and Vikram were dragged for a long distance as the scooter got entangled in the bus. Both Kamlesh and Vikram died on the spot. Sanju was taken to a hospital from where he was discharged after first aid.

Meanwhile, a case of causing death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered at Nangloi police station and the bus driver, 57-year-old Rai Singh, has been arrested.
