Sai Srinivas holds David Navara

DUBAI, APRIL 5. All four Indian Grandmasters — Abhijit Kunte, Sandipan Chanda, K. Humpy and R. B. Ramesh — won their first round matches but it was young D. Sai Srinivas who caught the attention of the strong field when he held third seeded Czech GM David Navara to a draw in the seventh Dubai Open chess tournament here on Monday.

On a day when International Master Tea Bosboom-Lanchava drew with top seed Russian Alexander Motylev, S. Kidambi, Lanka Ravi and Abhijit Gupta also won their matches.

In all 21 Indians are taking part in annual event that has attracted nearly 150 players from 44 countries. After the first round 65 players form the leaders' pack.
