PONDICHERRY, APRIL 5. The Pattali Makkal Katchi parliamentary party leader, M. Ramadass, today said he would persuade the Centre to grant B Two status to Pondicherry city so that the government staff got enhanced house rent allowance. In a release here, Mr. Ramadass said he had enlisted the views of representatives of various government employees' associations at a meeting on Monday. Among those who participated included C. H. Balamohanan (president of the Confederation of Associations of Government Employees of Pondicherry), G. Madhivanan (vice- president of the Central Federation of Associations of Government Employees), N. Madhavan (president) and T.R. Seshachalam (general secretary of the Federation of Government Employees). Mr. Ramadass said he had already urged the Union Finance Ministry in this regard and would now renew his efforts with suggestions from government employees' organisations.
