Great Eastern issue takes interesting turn

By Indrani Dutta

KOLKATA, APRIL 5. The ongoing tussle between the West Bengal Government and the unions over the privatisation of the country's oldest running hotel, the Great Eastern Hotel (GEH), took an interesting turn today.

The Government has decided not only to reopen the early retirement scheme which expired on March 26 but also to open another `window' for the workers to avail themselves of the scheme. GEH officials confirmed that the notification would be issued tomorrow.
