Toyota sales up 25 p.c. in March

NEW DELHI,
APRIL 5.
Counting largely on strong sales performance of the newly launched Innova and Corolla, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has registered a 25 per cent growth in March by selling 5,518 units, its highest ever sales across all product ranges, as compared to 4,410 units sold in the same period last year.
Cumulative sales for 2004-05 stood at 43,077 units, a marginal increase of 1.2 per cent over last year's sales of 42,547 units.
An company release claimed that its new passenger car Innova had recorded sales of 4,011 units in March. It is targeting a sales of 45,000 units in 2005.
Similarly Corolla's sales for March touched the 1,332-unit mark, a growth of 47 per cent over the corresponding period last year while its cumulative sales for April-March 2005 stood at 9,942 units.
Sales of Camry and Prado in March were 136 units and 39 units respectively.
"We are encouraged by the fact that despite Qualis not being available in the market for two months, we have managed to outperform last year's sales figures," the Deputy Managing Director of the company, K. K. Swamy, said.
