Inzamam's dubious record

** The ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium became the 37th ground/stadium in India to host a LOI match and the second ground to host a LOI at Visakhapatnam. The Indira Priyadarshani Municipal Stadium had hosted five LOIs from 1988 to 2001. It was also the 150th ground in the world to host a LOI match.

** Sourav Ganguly (when on four) reached his 5000th run as a captain for India and Asia XI in 140 matches. He is only the third captain in LOIs after Arjuna Ranatunga (5606 runs in 193) and Mohd. Azharuddin (5239 in 174) to reach the landmark. Ganguly needs 17 more to reach 5,000 runs as Indian skipper.

** Mahendra Singh Dhoni, playing in his fifth match, was only the second Indian 'keeper, after Rahul Dravid (four hundreds), to make a century in LOIs. His 148 was the highest by an Indian 'keeper, bettering Dravid's 145 against Sri Lanka at Taunton in the 1999 World Cup. It was also the third highest score by a 'keeper in LOIs after Adam Gilchrist's 172 (v Zim at Hobart in 2004) and 154 (v Sri Lanka at Melbourne in 1999).

** Dhoni's score was also the highest by a 'keeper against Pakistan. The only other 'keepers to score hundreds against Pakistan were England's Alec Stewart at The Oval in 1992 and Adam Gilchrist at Lahore in 1998 (both made 103). The highest by an Indian 'keeper against Pakistan was the 99 scored by Dravid at Karachi in 2004.

** Dhoni's 148 was also the third highest score made against Pakistan. Only West Indies' Brian Lara (156 and 153) has made bigger scores. The 141 runs scored by Ganguly at Adelaide in 2000 and Sachin Tendulkar at Rawalpindi in 2004 were the highest by an Indian against Pakistan.

** The 149-run stand between Dhoni and Dravid was India's best for the fourth wicket against Pakistan, erasing the 145-run partnership between K. Srikkanth and Azharuddin at Kolkata in '87.

** India's 356-9 was the highest score by any team in a 50-over contest against Pakistan. England made 363-7 at Nottingham in 1992 in 55 overs. Sri Lanka's 349-9 (Singapore in 1996) and India's 349-7 (Karachi in 2004) were the previous highs.

** Inzamam-ul-Haq, who was run out for the 38th time in his career (out of 270 dismissals), equalled the record of Wasim Akram (38 out of 225).

** The 72 runs conceded by Ashish Nehra was the second most conceded by a bowler while claiming four or more wickets in a LOI. Waqar Younis had figures of 4-73 (in 11 overs) against England at Nottingham in 1992.

** The match total of 654 runs was the second highest on Indian soil. India and New Zealand had made 655 runs at Rajkot in 1999. — Mohandas Menon
