Isolated heavy rain likely in T.N.

CHENNAI, APRIL 5. Rainfall occurred at most places over Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Isolated rainfall occurred over coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal and south interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema and Lakshadweep and dry weather prevailed over Telangana and north interior Karnataka.

The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in centimetres:

Eraniel (Kanyakumari dt.) 27, Ramanathapuram 22, Tiruvarur 20, Paramakudi (Ramanathapuram dt.) 16, Thiruvananthapuram 14, Ambasamudram (Tirunelveli dt.) and Kuzhithurai (Kanyakumari dt.) 13 each, Thiruvananthapuram Airport 12, and Thucklay (Kanyakumari dt.) 11 each, Ilayangudi (Sivangangai dt.) 10, Tambaram and Thoovalai (Kanyakumari dt.) 9 each, Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt.), and Nagerkoil (both Kanyakumari dt.) and Alapuzha 8 each, Varkala (Thiruvananthapuram dt.), and Pollachi (Coimbatore dt.) 7 each.

FORECAST (valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala and at a few places over south interior Karnataka, south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur north coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Karnataka.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over Telangana and north interior Karnataka.

Heavy rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala during the next 48 hours.
