Pepsi, HLL launch ice tea

BANGALORE,
APRIL 5.
Pepsi and Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL) today announced the launch of Lipton Ice Tea, through a 50:50 "Pepsi Lipton" alliance that pools the companies' respective strengths to market, sell and distribute Lipton ready-to-drink (RTD) teas and tea-based beverages.
The ice tea segment is expected to grow to about 10 per cent of the Rs. 6,000 crore carbonated soft drinks market. Addressing presspersons here, Pepsi India Holdings Pvt. Ltd. Chairman, Rajeev Bakshi, said "Right now, the market for ice tea is non-existent, very very small. We are creating a new category."
The Lipton Ice Tea will be initially available in 17 cities.
The joint venture product will focus on urban areas in the first two years.
