HYDERABAD, APRIL 5. The State committee of the CPI (ML) Janashakti today proposed to hold "100 rounds of talks" with the Government on the theme that none should carry weapons. Sagar, a committee member, in a statement, wanted the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to respond to his proposal. He criticised Dr. Reddy's stand that the Government was ready to hold 20 rounds of talks at a time when encounters were taking place and the common agenda and the arms issue were yet to be discussed. He claimed that the Government had lost the right to talk about arms after deploying the BSF, Greyhounds and private army against the "people." The Janashakti leader condemned the killing in a "fake" encounter of Gotti Narasimha Rao, a tribal dalam member, in Palvancha mandal of Khammam district. He alleged that Rao was caught and shot while he was resting due to indisposition. He said the police had killed 59 naxalites in 24 encounters in the recent past. By paving the way for encounters, the Government had closed the door for talks. In such a scenario there was no alternative for people but to protest. Sagar warned that leaders of the Congress, the TRS and landlords would have to pay a heavy price. He wanted the police to produce in court the three party activists -- Koti, Lakshman and Babu-- who were arrested in Guntur on March 28.
