HYDERABAD, APRIL 5. The writ petition challenging the social status of Koneru Ranga Rao, Minister of Cabinet rank in the State Cabinet was closed by the High Court on Tuesday. The bench comprising the acting Chief Justice, Bilal Nazki, and Justice Yethirajulu perused the writ petition filed by Suresh, Secretary, Malamahanadu, Krishna district. The petitioner contended that the father of the Minister belonged to the forward community and the social status of the Minister was to be reviewed, as he was not an SC. The bench took note of the fact that the petitioner had already filed an application before the district authorities and appropriate action had to be taken by the authority concerned as per the provisions of the Andhra Pradesh (SC, ST & BCs) Regulation of Issue of Community Certificates act, 1993 and Rules 1997. The bench was not inclined to pass any order and closed the writ petition.
