IDUKKI, APRIL 5. Keeping away the dispute over ownership, the Kerala and Tamil Nadu Governments are all set to hold jointly the famous festival at Mangaladevi Temple situated in the Thekkadi forests on the border of the two States on April 24. Thousands of devotees from both the States are expected to take part in the `Chithirapournami' festival at the centuries-old temple. Forest officials, Collectors of Idukki (Kerala) and Theni (Tamil Nadu) and others met recently to discuss the preparations for the festival, official sources said here today. The temple, situated in deep forests, 13 km off Kumaly, has `Kannaki,' the heroine of the Tamil epic `Silapathikaram,' as the presiding deity. About 5,000 feet above the sea level, the boundary walls of the temple are in a dilapidated condition as no reconstruction could be possible due to the dispute. UNI
