Vijayawada
By Our Staff Reporter
VIJAYAWADA, APRIL 5. Roman Catholics in the city will hold prayers for the repose of late Pope John Paul II's soul on Thursday at a special mass to be held at St. Paul's Cathedral at Benz Circle at 5 p.m. None from the Roman Catholic Church circles here will attend the funeral of the pontiff at Vatican City on Friday even as they have decided to offer special prayers in honour of the late Pope a day in advance.
Holiday likely
The special mass will have readings from the Bible, singing of hymns, delivering of message by the priest and other services. The secretary of Vijayawada Diocese, Bernard said that they were considering declaring Friday a holiday for their educational institutions in view of the pontiff's funeral. "Schools and colleges having examinations on that day may be exempted from holiday. But we have not taken a final decision yet," he added.
