At the start of his four-nation South Asia tour, the Chinese Premier arrived this evening here to a rousing welcome on a three-day bilateral visit. In demonstration of their assertion that they enjoy "all weather and all encompassing" relations, the Pakistan Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz, gave a goby to the protocol and drove to the Air Force Base at Chaklala to receive the dignitary. A nineteen gun salute boomed as the Chinese Premier came out of his special plane.

After leaving Pakistan on Thursday, Mr. Wen will spend a day in Bangladesh, another day in Sri Lanka, before heading for India on April 9. The official welcome ceremony for the Premier Wen Jiabao was held at the Prime Minister House.
