NIT-C offering research facilities

KOZHIKODE, APRIL 5. National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C) is offering facilities for doing research under full-time, part-time and external registration schemes in all Engineering branches, architecture, mathematics, chemistry and humanities (English language teaching).

According to an NIT-C release, the applicants should have an M.Tech degree in Engineering\Technology in appropriate branch for applying to the faculty of engineering. B.Tech\degree holders with exceptionally good academic background may also be considered subject to satisfying the requirements specified in the information brochure.

A masters degree in sciences (mathematics\ chemistry)\humanities (English language teaching) with first class or minimum 60 per cent marks (CGPA 6.5) or equivalent and having a valid GATE score or UGC\CSIR Fellowship tenable from the current year in the relevant area is required for applying to the faculties of science and humanities.

A master's degree in architecture\design\planning\engineering\technology or its equivalent is required for applying to faculty of architecture. Candidates who have qualified for the award of B.Arch with exceptionally good academic background will also be considered for direct admission to Ph.D. programme in this department.

Candidates applying for part time and external registration scheme need not have GATE score or UGC\CSIR fellowship. A few seats are also available for dependants of NRIs.

The admission is based on test\interview by the respective departments.

The application fee is Rs.400 for general candidates and Rs.200 for SC\ST candidates and Rs.1,000 for dependants of NRIs to be remitted in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of Chairman-Admissions, NIT Calicut payable at State Bank of India, Chathamangalam-code no.2207.

Fellowships

A few research fellowships\ teaching assistantships at the rate of Rs.7,000 for engineering departments and Rs.6,000 for other departments are available for full-time research scholars except sponsored candidates, foreign nationals and dependants of NRIs.
