PATHANAMTHITTA, APRIL 5. The Ranni-Perinad grama panchayat has completed the work on the drinking water supply projects for Mandappuzha, Kottupara and Edapparamala areas, according to an official statement issued by the panchayat authorities here today. The river Pampa is the water source of the Mandappuzha project aimed at supplying drinking water to the Mandappuzha area.
New scheme
The scheme envisages pumping of water from the boosting station at Madhathumoozhi to the storage tank at Koonamkara. The water from the storage tanks will then be pumped to the earthen reservoir with a capacity to store two-lakh litres of water at a distance of 1,200-metre from Koonamkara. The scheme has been completed at a total cost of Rs 19.20 lakhs and water will be supplied from the reservoir to 850 persons in Mandappuzha-Koonamkara areas. The Edapparamala drinking water supply estimated at Rs 21.34 lakhs will cater to the drinking water needs of not less than 950 people residing in Edapparamala areas. The Water Resources Minister, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, will inaugurate the drinking water supply projects, estimated at a total cost of Rs 40.5 lakhs.
