Two accused denied bail

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 5. The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thiruvananthapuram, Paul Simon, today rejected the bail application of Bindhu and Sindhu, who were arrested by the Crime Branch in connection with the SSLC question paper leak in the State.

The CJM, in his order denying bail to Bindhu and Sindhu, who are in judicial custody, upheld the argument of the Deputy Director of Prosecution, G. Ramachandran Nair, that granting bail to the sisters would affect the investigation of the case which was in a premature stage and also the arrest of other accused in the case.

Bindhu, who was arrested by the Crime Branch from the capital on March 27, had been remanded to judicial custody till April 18.

Sindhu, sister of the prime accused Bindhu, was arrested from Chennai on April 1 and brought here on Sunday night. She was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate here on Monday and remanded till April 18.

The District Judge, D. Pappachan, also rejected the anticipatory bail application moved by Bindhu's husband, Vijayakumaran Nair, following objections raised by the prosecution.

The court was informed that Bindhu was the prime accused in the case and that the involvement of Vijayakumaran Nair, a tutorial teacher, cannot be ruled out.
