By Our Staff Reporter
GUNTUR, APRIL 5. The district administration is making arrangements for providing all essential and life-saving drugs through 11 specified shops in view of the indefinite strike by druggists from Wednesday. The drug inspector, Y.V.V. Satyanarayana, told The Hindu on Tuesday that stocks with wholesale dealers were enough to last for a week, while retailers had enough stocks for three days.
Shops to be open
In Guntur city 11 shops would be kept open. They are: Venkataramana Medical Hall, Parimala Medical Hall, Kankaragunta, GVR Chowdhary Medical Shop at Jinnah Tower, Siva Medicals, Arundelpet, and three outlets of Appolo at Brodipet (Ph:2227422), Kothapet and Leela Mahal Centre (Ph:2265466). The two medical shops attached to Government General Hospital on the campus would also remain open. In addition, 70 shops of private clinics would also serve people in emergency, Mr. Satyanarayana said. The GGH Superintendent, Bhagavannarayana, said the hospital also had enough stocks for one week, but if the strike prolonged they would fall short of some life-saving drugs. Those needing help could contact the drug inspector over the phone No. 0863-2232792 at Ravindra Nagar in Pattabhipuram.
