TIRUCHI, APRIL 5 . The city today registered a maximum temperature of 29.2 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature is 24.4 degree Celsius.

Cyclist fatally knocked down

A cyclist was fatally knocked down by a speeding car on Thiruvanaikoil Trunk Road here today. The police said Balasubramanian (41) was killed on the spot after the car hit him. The Traffic Investigation (North) Wing has registered a case.

Held for eve-teasing

A 28-year-old man was arrested on the charge of indulging in eve-teasing at public place. Senthil Kumar of Mannarpuram was caught near a bus stop inside the Goldenrock Colony. The arrested person was later remanded. The Goldenrock police have registered a case, the police here said.

Cell phones stolen

An unknown person reportedly stole five cell phones and some service mobile phones from a shop at Chathiram Bus Stand here today.

The police here said the culprit entered into the shop by breaking the shutter lock and stole the mobile phones worth Rs.15,000. In a similar incident, an unknown person entered into a shop at Chinnakadai here and stole six cell phones worth Rs.12,000 on Monday.

The Fort Crime police have registered cases.

Man hurt in accident dies

A 30-year-old man, who sustained injuries after an unknown vehicle hit him on the Tiruchi - Karur main road at Kadiyakurichi bus stop recently, succumbed on Monday.

The police said Ravikumar of Sennakarai was driving his moped when the accident occurred.

He was admitted to the Government Hospital here where he succumbed.

The Jeeyapuram police have registered a case.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur reservoir stood at 51.71 feet today.

The inflow was 1088 cusecs and the discharge 900 cusecs.
