MADURAI, APRIL 5. The Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA) has proposed to conduct a seminar on management of power system by improving power factor on April 7 here as part of efforts to help reduce energy consumption. In a statement here on Monday, the president, S. Aravind, said the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board had installed electronic digital meters to measure power factor at all installations with a connected load of 25 HP and above and resorted to levying penalty if power factor recorded during any month fell below the optimum level. Hence, the seminar would provide an exposure on power factor and suggest corrective measures to be taken for improvement. The seminar would also focus on the concept of electrical energy and energy conversion, power distribution arrangement and need for improvement of power factor and methods. Industrialists, non-technical and electrical supervisors, electricians and new entrepreneurs could participate in the seminar. Further details could be obtained from MADITSSIA on telephone Nos. 252396 and 2523967.
